Herbs and Foods For Health
Ancient | Traditional| Healing
For thousands of years, herbs have been used for their healthy and medicinal qualities and benefits -- healing the sick and maintaining health. 3,000 years ago, the Egyptians had a great and highly sought after healing system, as did Asian cultures and societies (e.g. Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda).
Improving and maintaining your wellbeing can be difficult in the best of circumstances. We place our bodies and minds under a great deal of stress in everyday living, and often don't nurture and care for them sufficiently through stressful times. This can lead to poor health, illness, and disease. We often look for the quickest fix without realizing that good health can be achieved through a natural, balanced, and holistic approach to taking care of ourselves. That's not to say that western drugs/medicine don't have their place - they certainly do, especially for serious medical issues and should always be used for life-threatening diseases and conditions.
But Mother Nature provides us with wonderful solutions to support our bodies when we experience wellness challenges, such as colds and flus, cuts and bruises, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Celiac Disease, Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD/acid reflux), bronchitis, urinary tract infections (UTIs), insomnia, chronic fatigue, joint and muscle pain, and adrenal fatigue. And these natural solutions can often times be helpful partners or allies in western medical care when treating really significant health issues such as heart disease, autoimmune disorders, diabetes, and cancer.
Why not use what Mother Nature so abundantly gives us? Herbs, a good diet, and a healthy lifestyle can go a long way in healing and balancing this amazing machine we call a body.
