About the Herbalist and Practitioner
This is me, Lisa-Marie, and my dog Dodge. My two cats wouldn't cooperate, so they missed out on the photo shoot.
Dodge is my sweet, three-legged Chihuahua mix who I rescued from near death at our county shelter - although admittedly he looks much more like a gremlin. He takes herbs daily, eats a well balanced diet, and is a very healthy, active, and happy guy despite missing one limb. But he's probably not the reason why you came to this page....
I am a western clinical herbalist and holistic wellness practitioner who helps living creatures feel better and live well. I have spent most of my adult life making things work better. As an information technology and business executive for many, many years, I was often tasked with assessing and enhancing organizational processes, systems, and structures to ensure optimal performance and health of the organization. In many ways, I was a "healer" in the corporate world. But as I took on more and more, the stress of the workplace (and life in general) began to take its toll on my physical, mental and emotional health.
I was becoming a mess.
When I finally realized this, I figured it was time to find out how to make myself work better, and maybe also help others too. And I thought that following my passion of western herbalism would be a good place to start. So I started using herbs and other therapies to treat myself and family members. Through this journey, I found ways to manage my stress and the effects that it had on me. I became even more passionate about herbs and was thoroughly enjoying learning about them and applying this knowledge to make health improvements.
In 2014, I made the decision to try a new professional career and enrolled in the Ohlone Herbal Center’s Apprenticeship program to focus full time on herbal healing therapies. This decision was in large part due to my desire to help others like me, especially those who suffer from illnesses and disorders related to acute and chronic stress in their lives. I was inspired, through some of my volunteer work, by the families of special needs children, particularly families of children on the autism spectrum. These families face considerable obstacles and stressors in their daily lives, and I was able to gain insight into what these families are facing. I also work with seniors to improve their health and vitality as they navigate the aging process. I believe that I can make a difference for people with herbs and a holistic approach to health and wellbeing.
I am also a passionate animal advocate, volunteering my time in local animal rescues in Contra Costa County. Like my own healing journey and healing experiences that I have had with my own pets, I believe that herbal therapy can make a positive impact in the lives of animals.
I am excited about the opportunity to use my passion to make life work better and improve the well-being of my human and animal clients! If you are interested in speaking with me about your health needs, please feel free to reach out and request a consultation.
